WINTER TYME

When it's winter in the city,
And the roads are dark and gritty,
Then the city isn't pretty,
as it was.

    1. It's not that bad. Really. It's isn't "Brrrrrr!" until it's at least -20C (around 0F).

      Thanks for coming by!

  4. Fun! I agree about that brown and gritty getting in the way of the beauty of snow.
    Really beautiful image, Bear.

  6. Picture is pretty though...
I had to go back to your profile to see where you lived... (with all that snow). And also visited your other sites while doing so. Had to laugh at the blogs 'evolving'. My websites and blogs have done so also... some being left behind while others thrived.

    1. ® Rian: Thanks for stopping by. Oh, and my goodness; you did extensive research on the Bear's work. Glad it was a least mildly interesting. Everything these days is evolving, into something new, and/or different. As does my thinking.

    2. P.S.: Glad you like the picture. We can see quite a few things out our apartment windows.

  7. You're on the path here; I anticipate this city will continue to illuminate your inner thoughts somehow.

    1. ® Rosaria: HI! I cannot say how luminous my inner thought might be. I will, however, try not to make light of them.

  8. ® Lydia: Well, we're getting more freezing rain tonight, so the brown and gritty will have turned into a skating rink by morning. Sigh!

  9. Fresh snow is lovely but the brown gritty stuff is less so!

    1. My sentiments entirely, J.C. But I suppose you don't get very much of the "brown and gritty" in Oz.
      Or do you?
Oh, of course, the Snowy Mountains. And Snowy River. And the colt from old Regret that got away.

  10. Love it.

My Dad spouts poetry. You should have heard the poop bag inspired haiku after he walked my dog. Still makes me chuckle. Awesome site Rob-Bear

    1. So kind of you to drop by and say hello to the Bear after a quick read. Thank you.

Haiku inspired by a poop bag. The kind of thought my wife might consider. (Haiku is her thing; I stay away from it.)

      Merry Christmas!

  11. You are quite the poet laureate and my most cherished romantic.

  12. Aw, you're being such a sweetheart! Bear is your "most cherished romantic"! Only I feel anything but romantic these days. Duller-than-dishwater drudge.

OK, so, after that kind of compliment, what do you want?

I do hope this Christmas is a good one for you — all three of you (including your poor little scratchy guy). Especially with all the "stuff" you've been going through the last few years. And your latest post, which seemed so sad.

    Blessings and Bear hugs, eh?

    1. Thank you for dropping by, Marianne! I enjoy having visitors.
During the winter I tend to hibernate. (Actually, I recognize that my black dog — depression — tends to be more problematic in the winter, so "hibernating" is my excuse for not having to be all "up" and "cheery" when life is a struggle.)
By spring, I will try to be "back at it." I have, in fact, been gathering some poetry ideas during the winter.
Thanks again for your visit! Blessings and Bear hugs!

    Very creative poem!

    1. Not out of creativity, Snowbursh. More like out of time. First, I was hibernating. Then into the A-Z Challenge (to keep my brain working). When that's done, I've got poetic notes to turn into poems.

      Thanks for the visit.

    1. There is a time in the affairs of Bears . . .

that we set aside the erudite and esoteric world of poetry for more mundane stuff. Like the A-Z Challenge. That's the bad news. The good news is that I have some notes of bits of poetry scattered about in "dynamic' filing system I use. After A-Z and a good non-hibernative snooze, watch out!

Oh, yeah: what is the nutty chunchy stuff?

  18. More the poet than the blogger? I''ve visited this site but knew you had been hibernating...THere are some lovely pieces here. Cant wait to see what youve stashed in "the file" over the winter. (I especially like this one and the black dog.)

    1. Strange things can happen when you hibernate. One is that you develop a reputation totally out of keeping with your skills. Frankly, I'm starting to feel a bit anxious and overwhelmed by all of this. It's only a blog, for Heaven's sakes!

    2. whaddya mean? Anxious and overwhelmed by your own stuff or people's responses to your stuff? Dont feel obligated to answer online...Im just saying/asking...

    3. This is terribly pedestrian stuff, Zoe. It's not that great. It just . . . well, it just is. It's delightful that people are saying nice things, and I do appreciate those supportive comments, but all this makes me vaguely anxious. Creating expectations, perhaps?

Anyhow, I'm glad the doctor is in. Here's your 5¢. Thanks. Need to think about this reaction. It's a bit unnerving. Fortunately I get to see my specialist tomorrow.

    4. THe thing we ALL fail to see in creating these false expectations of ourselves is that they were built on what people appreciated of your "pedestrian" stuff in the first place. So WE expect nothing more(and possibly nothing at all as no one wants to put that on you) eh? Maybe its because you speak for the masses that people really flock to your posts. PS I take most insurance so no need for the 5 cents unless you have a copay.

      Delete
    5. Thanks, Zoe. I kinda reached a similar conclusion after I thought a bit more about it.

My co-pay is 105%. That's so the insurer makes lots! (Did you also discover that I lie a lot? But at least I own up to my representations, or misrepresentations.) In Canada, a trip to any family doctor or specialist is covered through the universal heath care program (sometimes called Medicare). I pay my copay though my income taxes, ahead of time. Sounds strange to some, but it actually works.

    1. And thank you for visiting my blog. Or, in my case, both of them.

Monday's snow is gone and we're being promised a high of 24°C on Sunday. Flooding has already been reported in about 10 communities, and we could see a lot more problems if the melt is fast.
